Our Mission and Vision

We are called to live the Gospel Values in the spirit of our charism, honoring our multi-cultural and multi-faith reality. We commit ourselves to impart value based education with special emphasis to the less privileged, developing their full potentials in their quest for excellence.

We believe that education is an awakening call rather than transference of knowledge. Our Motto “Virtue and Knowledge” does not just refer to academic excellence but to human excellence wherein every child will excel in whatever he/she is engaged in.

Our aim is to provide an Integral Formation to our pupils preparing them for their future life, and conscientizing them for their vital role, in the life of the society.

Mariam Nilaya Nursery and Primary School was started in May 1975 with 15 students and the High School in May 1989. The First Batch of 46 students appeared for S.S.L.C in March 1992. Today it has grown into a full-fledged High School.

While preparing the students for Examinations, we endeavour to develop their intellectual, moral, spiritual, physcial, social and cultural potentialities, helping them to grow into integrated persons with self esteem and positive values in life. We strive to expand the children’s mental horizons by strengthening inter cultural experiences and an awareness of social justice. We inculcate in our students eco-spirituality, which is an extension of the respect for God’s creation in everyone and everything.

Our Foundress

EUPHRASIE BARBIER (1861) France

The Congregation of Our Lady of the Missions is an International Missionary Congregation founded by Euphrasie Barbier (Mother Mary of the Heart of Jesus) on 25 December 1861in Lyons, France with a sole purpose of proclaiming the values of the Kingdom to all people of good will.

Euphrasie Barbier was born to Louis Desir Barbier and Jeanne Adele Le Clere on 4 January 1829 in Cean, France. Fearing that the young baby would die, the parents christened her on the same day. But God had already planned and ordained this small child’s exalted destiny. She loved God and so was her passion to become a missionary to foreign countries.
